Snow. What strange soft of nature was it.
Dark yellow iris seemed to glare tauntingly at the snowflakes as they curled down from the skies. His dusky black form seemed to stand out against the blurring fields of white and grey. He was just a mere silhouette. Another wolf in the vast lands. Raising his snow stained muzzle to the skies he let out his haunting melody. In was it was a cry of anger and pride. In other ways it was a soothing call for acceptance. A howl in many ways was indeed a strange thing. Shaking the snow from his pelt he rose his hackles slightly. It was indeed freezing, a blizzard was brewing. He was not about to throw himself at the mercy of the cold. He was stronger than that. Raising his head up higher the brute straightened out. It was lucky for him that his pelt had grown thicker over the wintry days. Yawning he sniffed at the air, indeed a territory was close. So was a hare. Smiling slightly he dropped into a crouch and began to track down the young creature. Pinpointing its place the hare finally came into few. Moving slowly closer he pushed itself into a silent pounce. Snapping his jaws around its neck he ended its life with a crack and a nip. Tasting the sweet blood on his tongue he hungrily devoured the animal. This before wiping his blood stained muzzle on the snow. Stretching out satisfied he began to move towards the border line with swift lopes. Thorn pawed the earth slightly as he waited for a call back. Or at least any signs of life. -d-
